Northeast India, known for its mesmerising beauty consists of seven states known as “Seven Sisters of India”. The charming Seven Sisters of India are located in the easternmost region of Northeast I They are, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura.

Why they are called Seven Sisters of India:

because they are interdependent on one another. All these states are connected to India via Siliguri Corridor. Hence, that is the only way to reach the Seven Sister States.

Assam: Assam is a state in north eastern India, situated south of the eastern Himalayas along the Brahmaputra and Barak River valleys. Assam, a treasure trove of natural beauty and diverse history, is one of the least explored of the Seven Sisters of India, lending it an immaculate, untouched aura that is sure to allure you. A land of wild forests, mighty rivers, and acres and acres of tea plantations, Assam, located in North East India, has a breath-taking landscape and is known to be one of the top biodiversity hotspots in the entire world. It is one of the unexploited places.
Known for: Assam is mostly famous for the tea gardens present here. It is also the largest tea producer in India, contributing 52% of the total tea production and making India as the largest tea producer in the world

Arunachal Pradesh: Arunachal Pradesh is a state in Northeast India. It borders the states of Assam and Nagaland to the south. Home to picturesque mountains, unexplored passes, tranquil lakes and famous monasteries, Arunachal Pradesh is an amazing holiday destination. Arunachal Pradesh is the perfect state for you if you wish to explore the tribal culture and the simplicity of their exquisite beauty.
Known for: Arunachal Pradesh is often called the land of dawn-lit Sun. Geographically, it is the largest state of the seven sister states. Covered mostly in forest and greenery, the pristine region is one of the least explored regions in India.
There is a Bridge Called Dhola-Sadiya which connects two states Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Manipur: The jewel city of India, Manipur is a state in north eastern India, with the city of Imphal as its capital. It is bounded by the Indian states of Nagaland to the north, Mizoram to the south and Assam to the west. Manipur promises to be a great tourist discovery as the state offers endless enjoyment and pleasure with its exotic landscape, undulating hills, green valleys, blue lakes and dense forests.

Known for: Apart from being a nature’s gift to India, Manipur is also a melting pot of culture. It is the birthplace of Polo, the sport and the birthplace of Ras Lila, a classical dance form.

Nagaland: Nagaland is a state in north-eastern India. It is bordered by the state of Arunachal Pradesh to the north, Assam to the west, Manipur to the south and the Sagaing Region of Myanmar to the east. Nagaland’s capital city is Kohima and its largest city is Dimapur. Nicknamed as the ‘Land of Festivals’, Nagaland is a quaint state in the north-east part of the country and is one of the most-loved hill station tourist destinations in India.

Known for: The food of Nagaland is known for its variety and simplicity. Being one of the major states in the North Eastern part of India, it is an important tourist site for its beautiful scenery and most importantly food. Naga food is considered spicy due to their love for the most famous king chilly known as raja mircha in the North East.

Meghalaya: Meghalaya meaning “abode of clouds”, from Sanskrit megha, “cloud” + ā-laya, “abode” is a state in Northeast India. Meghalaya was formed by carving out two districts from the state of Assam they are, the United Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills, and the Garo Hills on 21 January 1972.
Meghalaya, the abode of clouds, is one of the most beautiful states in North-East India offering a variety of sights, activities, food and festivals to the tourists. Well known for Cherapunjji, the place which receives one of the maximum rainfall in the world, Meghalaya can mesmerise you with its hills, valleys, lakes, caves and waterfalls which when combined with the beautiful clouds, give it a very serene, beautiful look.

Known for: Home to the wettest place on Earth, Asia’s cleanest village – Mawlynnong. Double Decker and Single Decker Living Root bridges – Nongriat and all around Meghalaya. World’s longest Sandstone Cave – ‘Krem Puri’ near Laitsohum village in Mawsynram Area. Its unique Matrilineal Society – where the boy has to leave his house after getting married and the property usually. The state is also famous for its number of Waterfalls and Caves.

Tripura: Tripura is a state in northeastern India. The third-smallest state in the country. It is bordered by Bangladesh to the north, south, and west, and the Indian states of Assam and Mizoram to the east. Rich in gorgeous landscapes, crystalline waterfalls, awe-inspiring mountains, dense forests, and a generous sprinkling of history and tradition, Tripura is a popular tourist destination situated in North-East India. This land-locked state nestled at the foot of the Himalayan mountains has a long historical legacy behind it.

Known for: Traditional Bamboo Dance. Hills and Valleys. Richness In Wildlife. Age-old Temples. Bamboo Products and Fruit Plantations. Archaeological Sites, Ancient Palaces and Mahals.

Mizoram: Mizoram is a state in northeastern India, with Aizawl as its seat of government and capital city. The name of the state is derived from “Mizo”, the self described name of the native inhabitants, and “Ram”, which in the Mizo language means “land.”. Thus “Mizo-ram” means “land of the Mizos”. Within India’s northeast old-Assam region, it is the southernmost landlocked state, sharing borders with three of the Seven Sister States of old Assam, namely Tripura, Assam and Manipur. Known as the ‘Songbird of India’, the northeastern state of Mizoram is one of the smallest states in India. The moderate climate of Mizoram, which is comfortable even in during summer makes it an attractive destination for all the tourists. The vast culture and grand festivals of the state have a unique, irresistible charm which can not be explained or read; it can only be felt once you are in the peaceful, serene land of Mizoram.

Known for: Mizoram is known for its pristine hills and caves. Culturally, this region is liberated from cast and gender bars and Home of many diverse tribes.
